THE SITKA SPRUCE SOUNDBOARD

Steinway is the finest piano manufacturer in the world.  A majority of pianists prefer to do their art on a Steinway.  It simply makes sense to restore Steinways using the same materials and methods that they historically have and are still using today. The soundboard is the heart of the piano.  If one aspires to the genuine Steinway sound, then using Sitka spruce for the soundboard, sugar pine for the ribs, and employing the straight-rib and compression-style techniques for building the soundboard, will guarantee the tradition of the Steinway sound. It is a worthy investment to preserve the heart of the Steinway sound.  

Premier Piano Gallery has several Steinways featuring the Sitka Spruce Soundboard available that they rebuilt while the company was known as Premier Piano Service. These are featured in our showroom alongside Consignment Steinways received to the Gallery through special arrangement with Steinway & Sons New York.
